Built from a genuine dissatisfaction with short-cycle thinking
Brizok was started in 2011 by a small group of consultants who had spent years working within larger practices, noticing that the pressure to deliver actionable recommendations within narrow timeframes often left the genuinely difficult questions — the ones about direction, positioning, and what the firm actually wanted to become — without adequate space to breathe.
The practice was established on the premise that some firms, at certain moments in their development, would benefit from working with a small number of people whose role was simply to think carefully with them about the longer arc — without the noise of a large project team and without the pressure of an imminent deliverable driving the conversation.
Over the years that followed, Brizok developed three forms of engagement suited to different moments and different appetites for the work. The Penang office serves as both the home base and, for clients who prefer it, the venue for working sessions.
Mission
To create space for senior leadership teams to hold the longer questions — without pressure, without a predetermined conclusion, and without the noise that usually surrounds strategic work.
Our Approach
We prepare carefully, we listen before we speak, and we present what we find in a form that is short enough to be read and specific enough to be useful. We do not offer what we cannot deliver.

Leads the Five-Year Foresight engagements and scenario preparation. Background in industrial economics and fifteen years working with owner-managed businesses in Peninsular Malaysia.
Suraya Rashid
Senior Consultant
Facilitates the Quiet Horizon Workshop and manages client relationships. She spent eight years as an in-house strategist for a Penang-listed manufacturer before joining Brizok in 2016.
Chong Wei
Research Lead
Responsible for all primary research and the preparation of Observation Notes. Deep familiarity with ASEAN trade data, demographic trends, and the longer patterns in Malaysian industry structure.
How We Work
Standards we hold ourselves to
Client confidentiality
All engagement content, including conversations during working sessions, is treated as strictly confidential. We offer a non-disclosure agreement at the outset of every engagement as a matter of course.
Grounded research
We do not construct scenarios from general consulting frameworks alone. We read primary sources, talk to people outside the client organisation, and build from observation rather than template.
Proportionate fees
Our fees are fixed at the outset and do not change during the engagement. We scope the work carefully before quoting, and we do not accept work we do not believe we can complete to a standard worth the fee.
No associate network
We do not maintain a pool of associates who are brought in to fulfil work sold under the Brizok name. Every engagement is staffed by the people who will be introduced to you at the first meeting.
Data protection
Any personal or commercial data shared with us is held securely, used only for the purpose of the engagement, and returned or destroyed at the close of the work. We comply with the requirements of the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Malaysia).
Delivery on time
We do not accept more engagements than we can service well. If we cannot meet a client's preferred timeline, we say so at the enquiry stage rather than at the deadline.
About the Practice
Strategic foresight consulting in Penang and Peninsular Malaysia
Brizok works with senior leadership teams in owner-managed and family-owned businesses across Peninsular Malaysia. Our engagements are sized to suit the moment — from a single written response to a specific question, to a ten-week scenario programme for a firm reconsidering its five-year direction. We are based in George Town, Penang, and work with firms across the Klang Valley, the northern corridor, and the wider ASEAN region.
The firm's work is grounded in the conditions specific to Malaysia — the regulatory environment, capital market dynamics, trade relationships with China, Singapore and the broader region, and the longer demographic and urbanisation trends shaping the operating context. We believe that useful foresight must be specific to place, not only to sector.
